I didnt read most of the replies so sorry if i repeat anything.

Texas should admit the best and brightest, but there is one problem with this. This may be totally off base but i think that the university recieves federal and state funding on the ethnic diversity of the school, has to do with percentages of the total student body. This should try to be met by the university to get as much money in this school as possible. The more money the better the education and resources.

I also believe that the university should do their best to get as many cultures into the student body as possible. There are many things to learn from different cultures and their customs and beliefs. It can only benefit students in the business world by doing so.

I graduated in '99 and I thought the student body to be pretty diverse back then. While on active duty I attended a couple of schools on the west coast, so I have something to compare Tx State with. My only recommendation would be to try and get more Asian students to Texas State. I think if we continue to grow academically, they will come and so will many other folks from diverse backgrounds. Keep growing baby!

Post subject:  Rate high schools

Doesnt the state and federal gov already rate highschools for overall performance? isnt that what part of their funding is based on?

One day the hypen american will be gone and we can all be Americans. I will tell you when I was at UT there were very few minorities. I see a lot more at TS.

One has to admit being poor and especially in some parts of Texas is a disadvantage. The EISD and the SAISD does not afford the same education as the NISD and NEISD and others here in SA.

I think that those who think we live in a colorblind world are living in a fantasy world. I agree as long as admission is based on the best, yadda, yadda then I am down with that but it isn't......so we now live with the situation that pisses and annoys whites .

I wish that I had the answer but if I did I'd be the Sec. of Ed. :)

Horncat, you wouldn't be qualified for working in the Department of Education because it has that whole being brain dead requirement.

I like George Carlin's solution to racism:

"I think we should all &*@% each other until we're all the same color."

There, problem solved. It would certainly be more pleasurable than resorting to riots!

:D
