Post Tournament Thread - Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase
The bobcats are spending the week of thanksgiving like most D1 college basketball teams, playing in an early season tournament as they take part in the Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase in Stockton, CA on the campus of Pacific.

The field consists of TXST, Air Force, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Canisius, and Pacific. Air Force is hosting every team in Colorado Springs where they already beat the bobcats. The other 4 teams are playing a round robin this week in Stockton.

First up for TXST is Arkansas-Pine Bluff tonight at 9pm CST.

The Golden Lions are 0-5 on the season with losses to Hawaii, Troy, North Dakota, SMU, and Air Force. They finished tied for 8th in the 10 team SWAC last year and they were picked to finish 8th this year in the preseason. No UAPB players were selected to the 10 man all SWAC preseason team.

The player to watch for the Golden Lions is 6'4" Jr. Guard Martaveous McKnight. McKnight is leading the team in both scoring and rebounding with 19.4 PPG and 4.4 RPG. He's shooting 44.8% from the field, 33.3% from 3, and 83.3% from the FT line.

Game tips at 9pm tonight and I don't see any viewing options as the game isn't televised or broadcasted anywhere that I see. Bill Culhane will have the call on 103.1 FM in Austin and can be broadcasted through tunein radio or txstatebobcats.com if you're not in the Austin area. I haven't seen any odds for this game either.

Can't lose to SWAC teams, need to win to even the record at 2-2 and move on to Canisius on Friday night.

Tyler Blount led us in scoring for the 2nd time this season with 16 points. He was 4/6 from 3.
Immanuel King had 14, Alex Peacock had 12, and Pearson had 10.

Marlin Davis had 5 assists and no turnovers. The whole team was doing pretty well turnover wise until about a 5 or 6 minute span in the 2nd half when pine bluff made a little run. I love that Blount is hitting shots. King is much improved at the ft line. He just looks much more confident. Peacock had an awesome first half. He and Blount really picked up the whole team. Curious to see how we do against the golden griffins.

Next up for TXST in this tournament is Canisius at 10:30pm CST Friday night.

Canisius is 0-1 so far in this tournament, losing to Air Force while TXST is 1-1 with a loss to Air Force and a win vs. UAPB. The Golden Griffins are just 1-3 on the season, they beat Youngstown State but have lost to Air Force, Buffalo, and Tennessee State. They were 18-16 last year and finished tied for 6th in the MAAC at 10-10. They were picked to finish 9th this year in the preseason coaches' poll. Forward Jermaine Crumpton was named preseason 1st team all MAAC.

5 players comprise 88.5% of their scoring. 6'5" sophomore guard Isaiah Reece is leading the way in both scoring and rebounding with 18.3 PPG and 7 RPG and is 52.2% from 3 on the season. Despite coming off the bench and only averaging 17.3 MPG, 6'7" sophomore guard Spencer Foley is 2nd in the team in scoring 13.5 PPG. He's shooting a blistering 11/18 from 3 on the season. Crumpton is averaging 13 PPG, while 6'5" freshman guard is adding 12.8 PPG and 5'10" point guard Malik Johnson adds 11 PPG.

Once again, Immanuel King should have a size advantage for us in the paint and Crumpton is only 6'6". Prijovic and Foley seem to have similar styles and should match up well.

One thing to note is TXST SG Isaiah Gurley started his career at Canisius. He redshirted his first season then averaged 2.8 PPG and 1.9 RPG as a redshirt freshman for the Golden Griffins in the 2015-2016 season.

TXST opened yesterday as 1 point favorites and are now favored by 2. Game isn't televised so you'll have to listen via radio to follow. 1300 the Zone in Austin, 89.9 in San Marcos, or iHeartRadio, TuneIn Radio, or txstatebobcats.com if you're not in the San Marcos or Austin area.

Just looks like the guys aren’t playing good basketball right now. Really need some improvement by conference games.

Really tough loss. We went through one of those patented Kaspar stretches where we just can't score with about 5 minutes left in the game and Canisius pulled away. 68-62 loss drops TXST to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in this tournament.

We close it out tonight against the hosts, Pacific, at 8pm CST. Pacific is also 2-3 on the season, but are 2-0 so far in this tournament with wins against Air Force and UAPB. They lost to Stanford, UC-Davis, and Nevada prior to starting play in this tournament.

Pacific opened as 3 point favorites, currently 3.5 point favorites.

May have video for this one here:

Cats shoot 62% from the field and 85% from the ft line. That may never happen again. I would not be surprised if Peacock starts pretty soon if he keeps playing the way he is. He fills the stat sheet. Pearson Blount and Nottingham made some big shots when the cats really needed them. Glad to get the win.

Both teams shot lights out.

We shot 62% from the field, 62% from 3, and 85% from the FT line.
Turnovers are still an issue as we had 17.

Multiple guys had career nights. Pearson tied his career-best with 23 points, King also tied his career best with 13, Nottingham set a new career-best with 13 also. Blount and Terry each had 12.

Agree on Peacock also. He's off to a good start to the season and had like 5 assists last night from his power forward spot.

3-3 on the season now. We return to Strahan Wednesday night vs. A&M-Corpus Christi.

Peacocks interior passing was fantistic. King would have had an average game otherwise. Those two players play well together. I think pg is getting worked out but still hoping Gurley has a breakout game at sg. Blount has played better than I thought he would. Never thought we could give up 52 2nd half points and I wouldn't be upset. Thank goodness we shot so well.

Gurley and Shelby Adams were both out last night also.

Gurley has a groin injury, Adams was sick. We haven't seen a 100% Gurley yet.

I hope Gurley was just sitting out because it was 2 games in 2 nights and he was still recovering and not that he hurt it again. Thanks for the info on Adams.
