Sorry, hoping for a breakout season and hoping 2005 was not a fluke for this program, but realistically, don't see our road troubles changing, tough schedule this season, tough conference teams this year, SHSU will be better this season, I can't see a winning record.

09/01/07 vs Cal-Poly - LOSS
09/08/07 vs Abilene Christian - WIN
09/15/07 at Baylor - LOSS
09/22/07 at South Dakota St. - LOSS
10/06/07 vs McNeese State -LOSS
10/13/07 at Central Arkansas - LOSS
10/20/07 vs Stephen F. Austin - WIN
10/27/07 at Northwestern State - LOSS
11/03/07 vs Southeastern Louisiana - WIN
11/10/07 at Nicholls State - LOSS
11/17/07 vs Sam Houston State - LOSS

The record - 3-8 (SLC 2-5)

But, my half full rose colored glasses see 5-6.

Cal-Poly, Baylor, South Dakota St on the road, highly ranked McNeese State, Central Arkansas, always tough Northwestern State, our achilles heal Nicholls State, improved Sam Houston State...that's a tough road.

Expect the 'Cats to suprise two, win three sure bets, finish with 5 wins.

I believe you also predicted a losing record in 2005.

i agree with folks on here who point out that we've traditionally had trouble on the road. but remember that last year our biggest wins were on the road: at mcneese and at sam. plus, the nw state game was winnable.

I agree. We stepped it up in the national spotlight on the road and then following "The Hit" we stepped it up and won at Sam. We basically shot ourselves in the foot at NW St.

Don't believe I made a prediction for the 2005 team, but after sitting through 15 years of mostly losing seasons, I think I would have had a right to. I believe I remember last year predicting a subpar season for a young team...and heard alot of whining...terribly sorry your feelings got hurt...you'll live.

The good news is I'll be hoping for 11-0 and a playoff run like other Bobcat fans on here.

09/01/07 vs Cal-Poly - LOSS -Too good of a team to try & work the offensive & defensive kinks out on.

09/08/07 vs. Abilene Christian -WIN - it's a good Div II but we're at home.

09/15/07 at Baylor -LOSS - We cannot compete with the worst of the Big XII. Sorry.

09/22/07 at South Dakota St. -LOSS - Close loss on the road. Gives us something to build on.

10/06/07 vs. McNeese State -WIN- I watched the 06 McNeese/TSU game the other day & I still can't fathom why McNeese would be in anyone's Top 10.

10/13/07 at Central Arkansas - LOSS - This is a really good team and our road upset is still left to come.

10/20/07 vs. Stephen F. Austin - WIN - I think we roll in this one. Not close.

10/27/07 at Northwestern State - WIN - OK, I'll go on record as saying we win this one. I really think we are the better team.

11/03/07 vs. Southeastern Louisiana - WIN - Stomp.

11/10/07 at Nicholls State - WIN - On any other field we beat these guys 14 pts easy. But in Thibidoux, every ref is somebodies cousin. Too close.

11/17/07 vs. Sam Houston State - WIN - On paper we match up extremely well but Bomar is for real. I'm thinking last minute fumble to preserve a win.

The record - 7-4 (SLC 6-1) SLC Champions

Our winning percentage on the road in the past 5 years has been a horrible 19%. While at home we have been at 73% during a time when we have only won 49% of our games overall.
Things leveled out last season as are home dropped to 50% and away improved to 40%.

My outlook

09/01/07 vs Cal-Poly - Tough game to start the season. Will we be ready? If this was game 2 of the season i would mark it as a WIN but as is i think its a coin flip. Coin reads WIN.

09/08/07 vs Abilene Christian - DII at home. Nuff said. WIN

09/15/07 at Baylor - Baylor is a much better team than we faced in 2004 but so are we. Even if we play our best we will still need a little help from them. LOSS

09/22/07 at South Dakota St. - These guys are no longer a joke, despite the fact there mascot looks like bugs bunny. A long trip and the 2nd week on the road really hurts. The only thing we have going for us is that SDSU has to play Youngstown and Northern Iowa leading up to us. LOSS

10/06/07 vs McNeese State -We own Mcneese. They will play us as hard as ever but we are at home and McNeese will, again, 'give' us at least 4 turnovers. WIN

10/13/07 at Central Arkansas - I dont see these guys surprising everyone as they did last year and they lost almost their entire defense. WIN

10/20/07 vs Stephen F. Austin - SFA at home. I am still sick from the game last year. I sure our players are too. WIN

10/27/07 at Northwestern State - I see us dropping one on the road and Natchitoches is a crappy place to play. LOSS

11/03/07 vs Southeastern Louisiana - SELA will take down a few SLC foes but not the bobcats. WIN

11/10/07 at Nicholls State - Having fast LBs and 3 instead of 2 will shut their offense down and we will take the paddle from their house like they did from ours. WIN

11/17/07 vs Sam Houston State - Probably for the conference title. Hope the AD has thought about temp. seating. WIN

8-3 SLC champs and hosting NCAA first round...

I can see this being a very realistic prediction except I think if we lose to Baylor and it is a close game (within 10 pts.), we will come out hungry for a win and will beat SDSU on the road.

Well thinking optomistically I think we can do either 9-2 or 8-3 on the season.

9/01/07 vs Cal-Poly - Possible WIN, we are at home, but the team has some rough edges that might not be smooth in time for this game

09/08/07 vs. Abilene Christian - WIN, ACU is a good DII school, but we will be too much for them

09/15/07 at Baylor - LOSS Baylor is improving, but then again so are we. It'll be close but in the end I think we would have to play a perfect game to win.

09/22/07 at South Dakota St. - LOSS A trip across the entire country to a very good DIAA school will probably be too much for our Cats.

10/06/07 vs. McNeese State -WIN, we're coming home after a two long weeks on the road with a week off, best chance for a win in SLC!

10/13/07 at Central Arkansas - WIN, Sorry CAU but your initiation into the SLC is going to be rough, but honestly this game is going to be very close.

10/20/07 vs. Stephen F. Austin - WIN, homecoming game against a rival team, need I say more.

10/27/07 at Northwestern State - WIN, we should be able to pull this one off. NWS is a good team, but we are simply better.

11/03/07 vs. Southeastern Louisiana - WIN

11/10/07 at Nicholls State - WIN, 2005 should be a good reminder for these guys to win this one (we need that damn paddle back!!)

11/17/07 vs. Sam Houston State - WIN, we can take them down again like last year, no playoffs for the "other" Kats in the state.

So this are my optomistic thoughts for the season. We will proably drop a game or two in the SLC due to stupid mistakes, but we shouldn't do worse than 7-4.
